Why do they do it? Ego, narcissism, self-centered behaviors? I just don't get it... Why in hell do women spend all of that money on getting their hair fixed-sorry it's broken-and makeup? I spend $12 about every two months on a haircut, and that's more than I want to spend. I don't understand how ladies drop fifty dollars or more a month for their hair but then complain about the price of a gallon of gas. There is no comparison! What about makeup? Why? What's it for? The vast majority of women that I know do not need makeup.
You marry the most beautiful girl in the world for one day. One day! Then it's all down hill after that. You know that you didn't cheat on your new wife on your honeymoon for Christ's sake, but there she is next to you in bed the next morning. A stranger. Somebody you've never seen. Meet your new bride.
I know that guys can be almost as bad. Be a guy for shit's sake, and don't use the fuggin' hairspray dudes! You look like a Pentecostal preacher with all of that damned spray! Women on the other hand seem to think that a pound of makeup and expensive beauty shop repairs are necessary to look good.
Guess that's just the way of the wild. If I ever want a woman with a lot of makeup, I'll hook up with a hooker. One more thing before I go... No woman looks good with a lipstick tube or mascara brush smashed into her eyeballs. So stop already with applying your bottled beauty while driving will ya? I'm outta here.

Well, you made my day since I'm not a makeup person. Thanks. I agree that some women go way overboard with the makeup. Some must have to peel that crud off at the end of the day.

How about $125 to get the hair done, then come straight home and re-do it, cause "that's not the way I wanted it done"... What???? And you tipped them too???? What????? Very strange, these female creatures... Have a great weekend Don!!!

There are so many other things I'd like to spend my money on than a hair cut and/or color that will only last 4-6 weeks.
It is nice though once in a while I suppose to splurge.
It ties into the jewelry thing. I don't think they give two craps about it intrinsically -it's how they compete with each other.
Gees, Don, I've been putting on make-up and doing my hair each day for YOU! :) It's funny how much I spend to look "natural", and the time?! Yikes. But the alternative isn't so grand, so I try to look nice for me, not necessarily anyone else. Give me a break, pally. I think you'd agree that my "natural" look is a whole lot easier to look at then some dumpy broad with her sweats on at the grocery store with her hair and face a mess.
That's the great thing about hookers..they don't care if you have another chick. I mean, it costs extra, but whatever.
Sandee: Does it take sandpaper to get some of that stuff off? Some need to wear it to cover up the scratches made by the paper that gets it off.
Tattoo Jim: I know. I don't get it. If you pay twenty cents more per gallon for gas one day than the previous day, that's something to bitch about. Then don't siphon it from your tank because you want to find it cheaper somewhere else.
Stacie's Madness: What part don't you get? When I think of ten of the sexiest and/or cutest girls I know personally, maybe two wear a little makeup. That's it.

But, Don, they do it all for us. They spend all that time getting beautiful so we'll appreciate them more. It's like a fresh coat of paint. Although, often, a new coat of paint might be cheaper! hahaha
nonamedufus: A fresh coat of paint, if dry, does not "run" when it rains and it comes with a guarantee of sorts. Makeup should say, "Guaranteed" to make you beautiful for at least one week or your money back." I'd hate to be in charge of that refunds desk.
What about the time it takes to apply all this spackle?
If you figure an hour a day to apply, re-apply and touch-up, over a 50 year period, that comes to more than two years lost to prettification. That doesn't include end-of-day sandblasting operations.
It takes even more time off men's lives due to the stress of waiting for the ritual to draw to a close.
Maybe that's the idea!?!
Carl Vine: I used to wait on my ex to go anywhere and everywhere because of the application of makeup. She would do one eye. Go get coffee. Come back for the other eye. So on and so forth. Drove me nutso!
You know you're wearing too much makeup when people don't recognize you without it. The best example is women that have to paint on their eyebrows. Without the paint, they practically don't exist.
I like makeup. It's fun to play with. I don't wear it all the time,but when I do it only takes me 5 minutes to be totally done.
As for my hair, I would never pay that much to get my hair done!
What about the money for manicures, pedicures, and worst of all the fake nails that have to be 'filled' every 2 weeks. I can't imagine the total bill for all that crap at the end of the year. I hate paying money for something I can do myself anyway! I can't imagine spending $20+ on that stuff.
ReformingGeek: I know exactly what you mean. Take the case of Tammy Faye Baker. Painted off or on or upside down that bitch was uuuuugly! In her case, makeup could not even help.
I have one hair style, straight. It doesn't need done just cut when I can't stand it any more. Makeup? I think I may have some of that stuff around here somewhere. I've got better things to do with my money than spend it on makeup and hair do's
Ann: Yay! I'm already in love! Most women, I believe, do all of that because they are taught that way. I swear the girls I know just do not need any of that! Most don't even use it.
I haven't worn make-up since I left the corporate world. Besides, if I showed up on the job site in full hair and make-up, things would be made very difficult for me. Like - "Hey, Me-Me, we need more concrete extender".
Don, if the girls you are seeing are as young as I think they are, you are not looking at their faces. Just sayin. All hair cuts no matter the style are done right here at home. Mu hubs even cuts his own, so no $12 haircuts here. I do my own hair styling and very little make up. I can't help it if I have gotten way ugly in my old age. By the way, have I told you how much I adore you lately?
